Aravorn's Bow Guide = http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?t=32614&highlight=campfire
Hunter is the primary ranged class in LOTRO, but that dosent mean they cant hold their own in melee combat. Sure I've gotten double teamed by goblins and just bareley gotten past ones that ambushed me but when the hunter has the first shot against melee opponents he can gun them down before they even get in range if he knows how to use his skills. In a fellowship the hunter's role is to stay away from the action and let the guardian do his job as the tanker. The hunter should use his skill with a bow to help take down foes from a safe distance.
Initialy the Hunter's only armor option is light armor, but at level 10 we gain the skill to wear medium armor.
Strategies for playing hunter:
When playing a hunter it is important to use your advantage of ranged skill against your oponents. When facing more tough melee opponents, drop a trap and use gather focus to get your focus meter up. Open up with a penetrating shot and then a quick shot to snare your opponent when using the stregnth stance. After snaring use swift bow to get plenty of damage in. By this time the melee enemy should have stumbled upon your trap. While the enemy is rooted use barbed arrow to put a DoT on your foe. Note that damage has a moderate chance of releasing a foe from a root. If your foe has enough fortitude to survive your onslaught of arrows melee combat is fairly simple and relies on you using your specials quickly.
