The Legacy series of quests was introduced as part of the New Game Enhancements (NGE) that occurred in 2005. This quest line was designed to help new players to the game quickly advance through the initial levels of their profession, supplying them with experience, credits, weapons, and utility items to make the grind easier. With the addition of quests on Corellia and Talus, it became easily possible for a player to advance a character to Combat Level 50 with very little contact with other players.
The Legacy quest line has been divided into four segments, separated by planet:
