'I can offer you some more work if you're interested. There are many possible gem-bearing lodes in Gorothlad that we have not yet found. If you like, you could take a pick-axe and go out to the area north and west of Maethad and see if you can find anything worthwhile.

'I'll give you a pick-axe suitable for taking samples out of the hard, gem-bearing rock. Any rocky outcropping in the whole area south of the Arena might be suitable, so it might take a while to find a good spot.

'I've noticed that the cave-claws seem to gather around gem-bearing rocks, if that's any help.'

Background:

Bothwar the dwarf-miner is seeking news of any gem-bearing rock.

Objectives:

Objective 1

The whole area north and west of the Maethad is suitable for prospecting. Cave-claws tend to gather around gem-bearing rocks.

The dwarf-miner Bothwar has given you a pick-axe and sent you off looking for gem-bearing rock. He gave you little guidance, but told you that any rocky outcropping in the region north and west of Maethad might be suitable.

Objective 2

Talk to Bothwar

Bothwar is back at Gabilshathûr.

Having found some gem-bearing rock, you should bring your sample back to Bothwar.

Notes:

The area to mine is outside of the Arena, to the west of it on the North mountain wall. (But east of the southern entrance to Grishbalt (guarded by two trolls.) Find the cave claws, then stand next to the wall. Use the mining pick by right-clicking it in your inventory.
